Is shame good or bad?
Both!
The world is working relentlessly to remove shame for some things, such as committing abortion, and wanting to add shame to others, for example for being white.
Because of this, it’s extremely important to know when shame is a correct feeling. Ashamed means “feeling shame, guilt, or disgrace” according to Webster’s.
Don’t trust feelings or culture to teach you what you should be ashamed of or unashamed of. Go to God’s Word for these.
Don’t be ashamed of the gospel. Don’t be ashamed of your skin color. Don’t be ashamed of standing firm for truth. Don’t let people make you feel guilty or shame for doing what’s right. Don’t apologize for being a bold ambassador for Christ, because the gospel is offensive to those who are perishing.
Feel shame when you commit abomination. Sin is serious to God, and it should be to you too. Feel ashamed if you are a bully, or a coward. Feel ashamed if you’re lazy, or selfish. Realize the weight of transgressing our holy God’s law, but don’t stay there, Christian! Repent and run to Christ for forgiveness and walk in the newness of life!
